About Dr. David W. Parrott
Dr. David W. Parrott has dedicated his career to the higher education sector, including most recently as Title IX coordinator at the University of Louisville. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the university’s compliance with Title IX, including policies and procedures pertaining to sexual misconduct and other forms of sex discrimination. Dr. Parrott also manages student, faculty, and staff training, as well as ensuring adequate resources are available to campus assault survivors.
As a first-generation college graduate, Parrott has consistently brought a unique and valuable perspective to leadership positions at several Tier 1 universities. Prior to joining the University of Louisville, he was vice president of student affairs at the University of Florida. He formerly held several roles at Texas A&M University, where he most recently served as executive associate vice president and chief of staff in the division of student affairs. Additionally, Parrott’s extensive administrative experience includes work in student affairs at Western Michigan University and Western Kentucky University.
Dr. David W. Parrott also brings his expertise in higher education law to the classroom teaching both masters and doctoral students. He holds or has held adjunct professorships at institutions including the University of Louisville, the University of Florida, Texas A&M University, Western Kentucky University, Western Michigan University, and Bowling Green State University. He has been an invited faculty member at the Gehring Academy, the Student Organization Institute, and the NASPA AVP Institute.
With more than 30 years of experience in academia, Dr. David W. Parrott is a respected and sought-after authority on higher education legal and compliance issues. He frequently consults and presents on a broad range of related subjects including legal issues (First Amendment, due process, etc.), race relations, threat assessment, and student conduct. He has served as President and on the board of directors for the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) in several capacities and has numerous professional memberships.
In addition to being regarded as a repository of knowledge on First Amendment (and particularly First Amendment and Inclusion), student conduct, due process, and Title IX issues, Dr. Parrott has earned praise for his inclusive and collaborative leadership style. He boasts a proven track record of cultivating relationships with key stakeholders while successfully leading organizations through periods of change. His numerous accolades include ASCA’s prestigious Donald D. Gehring Award and the National Orientation Directors Association’s President’s Award.
Dr. David W. Parrott has a Bachelor of Science in business management and a Master of Arts in educational leadership and administration from Western Kentucky University. He received his doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Louisville, where he specialized in student affairs administration and wrote his dissertation on racial identity development.
